Happy fall! The only way the weather could be improved, if it were a bit cooler.

The Varney Ladies Fellowship met this past week and it was decided to postpone the Craft Fair, originally scheduled for Nov. 13, because of the increase in COVID cases. We are hopeful that this event will be held sometime in the spring. More information to follow.

The Thrift Store remains open on Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDC recommendations are followed.

The Brooks Volunteer Fire Department will be conducting a fire safety presentation to our students on Wednesday, Oct. 6 (rain date Oct. 12). Also, stay tuned for news from our second assembly of the year. Students of the month will be announced then, as well as finding out if we met our schoolwide goal of 600 Morse ROARS coins. If we do, the entire school will be treated to something special. Stay tuned!!!

Food truck
In case it has escaped your notice, Cal’s food truck, owned and operated by Iris Piersiak and Emmet Helrich, is located at Depot Park (near the railroad tracks), with plenty of parking and outdoor eating. They are open on Friday and Saturday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Their burgers (made from local beef), house-made sauces, hand-cut fries, salads and drinks are drawing rave reviews on Facebook!

Until next time … stay well.
