AMESBURY, Mass. — Richard Maynard Cushman, 71, of Amesbury, Mass., passed away peacefully Sept. 20, 2021, at his home, after a long battle with cancer.

Richard was born Nov. 27, 1949, in Belfast, the son of Leland M. and Arlene. M (Tower) Cushman. He grew up in Belfast and went to Belfast Area High School. He worked as an auto body technician and auto insurance appraiser for over 45 years.

In his earlier years, Richard loved to ride his motorcycle. He loved coaching youth sports and taking his family on camping and fishing trips all over Maine. As he grew older, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and would take them camping and swimming. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who loved his family enormously.

Richard is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lynn Cushman; his daughter, Jennifer Cushman, of Amesbury, Mass.; his son, Jamie Cushman, and wife Tulay, of Mount Laurel, N.J.; his two granddaughters, Emma Rae Wildes and Nisa Cushman; his grandson, Altan Cushman; his new unborn grandchild; his brother, Donald Cushman, and wife Bonnie; his sister, Jean Brown; his sister-in-law, Denise Corey, and husband Sheldon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Richard is also survived by his good friend Leal Wood and his many longtime friends in Belfast. He was preceded in death by his mother, Arlene Cushman, father Leland Cushman, brother Paul Cushman and sister Elizabeth Miller.

Graveside memorial services will be held at Grove Cemetery Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m.
