ROCKLAND — Leavitt of Turner, led by talented sisters Ruby and Jade Haylock, among others, captured the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B Shootout championship on Thursday, Sept. 30 at the Rockland Golf Club.

In the three-team high school golf shootout, Leavit finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole team stroke total of 158, while Maranacook of Readfield was second at 178 and Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield third at 184.

Previously, the Hornets also eliminated No. 2 Oceanside of Rockland and No. 4 Medomak Valley of Waldoboro in the South Division playoffs. Additionally, MCI ousted No. 2 Belfast in the North Division playoffs.

Leavitt (South), MCI (North) and Maranacook (Central) won their divisions to earn a spot in the shootout in Rockland.

In the shootout, teammates Ruby Haylock and Bill Visconti finished as co-medalists with 36.

The individual team scores from the shootout for the teams were:

Leavitt — Ruby Haylock (36), Billy Visconti (36), Jade Haylock (43), Aidan Lind (43), Alexis McCormick (45) and A.J. Davis (46).

Maranacook — Wyatt Folsom (40), James Marr (44), Brandon Chilton (44), Alex Trafton (50), Ben Jewett (51) and Wyatt Lyons (59).

Maine Central Institute — Owen Moore (43), Jordan Plamondon (44), Joseph Parker (46), Jillian Plamondon (51), Leah Deschanine (59) and Nathan McKenney (61).
