Hello All,

My internet has been down for whatever reason. On and off as well. I hope everyone has been enjoying our days. The rain keeps us on our toes. Gotta get ready for winter now.

Belated birthdays

Happy 16th to William McKenney!! Happy 18th to Kayden Doughty!!

Tax bill time

Our tax bills have arrived already. If you have your own home and have not signed up for the property Homestead Exemption through the local Town Office, please do; it could save you money on your tax bill. There is also a tax rebate for property tax/rent if you qualify.

The foliage saga

The colorful leaves are popping up in the mountains and across Northern Maine, especially. It’s that time of year. Coming here soon, too. I have seen many turkeys, and some deer.

Joy to Be Bald

These events at the 12th annual Joy to Be Bald are for three young local ladies battling different kinds of cancer. Saturday, Oct. 9, for the bake sale, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Lori’s Cafe in Liberty, Route 3. Sunday, Oct. 10, head shaving at noon at Walker School, and at about 1 p.m. for the walk-a-thon from the school to the Fire Department. Get your pledge sheets for these events. Wednesday, Oct. 13, a spaghetti dinner drive-thru, pickup event at Lori’s Cafe, 4:30-7 p.m., 589-4141 to pre-order. Thanks, folks, for all you do to help.

Next public supper

Freedom Congregational Church, last one of the season, on Saturday, Nov. 6. Menu later. I forgot Saturday night.

Unity Barn Raisers

A Halloween Extravaganza  on Sunday, Oct. 31, 3-4:30 p.m. at the Unity Community Center. Games and fun for kids.

Rash of thefts

Lock your vehicles, keep your valuables out of sight in your car. Recently a 28-foot Terry Travel Trailer was stolen from Coffin Road in Thorndike. It is sad as some people don’t care about others, and will steal anything. Beware of all the scams, too. I get calls all the time and emails. I could be a millionaire if I call a number, no thanks. Just don’t fall for any of these.

Public auction in Thorndike

Farrin’s Country Auctions is having a public auction of Bryant’s Stove and Music and Button Museum on Saturday, Oct. 23, starting at 10:30 a.m.

Fair time

The Fryeburg Fair started on Sunday, Oct. 3.

Fall fun

Apple picking is still going on at various places. People are kayaking on the lakes and ponds. Having fun adventures.

Visiting

I visited Jody and Dennessa recently. I also visited at the Doughty household and made them an apple crisp. Trying out the apple peeler.

Celebration of life

Please join the Porter Family on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. at the Monroe Community Church, UCC, to share in the celebration of life for Evelyn C. Porter. May she rest in peace.

Sympathy

Our condolences to the family of Greta Gardner who passed recently on Sept. 24. She lived on this road for many years before ending up living at Leisure Homes in Unity. She was 91 years young. Thinking of all her family at this time.

Until next week,

Enjoy our days. Be safe and keep warm. Fuel assistance is available at 338-3025. I believe the Thanksgiving applications (People for People) may be available at the Town Office, but not sure, never hear anything from there. The Appeals Board met on Thursday night. Have a great week.
