BELFAST — Waterfall Arts, Belfast’s nonprofit community art center, welcomes Amy Tingle as its new program director. In her role as program director, Tingle will implement a comprehensive, balanced, mission-driven programming plan for Waterfall Arts that enhances participation and community involvement in the arts.

A resident of Northport, Tingle began volunteering for Waterfall Arts before she moved to Maine from New Jersey in April of 2020. Tingle brings more than 15 years of experience in creative arts programming, exhibition curation and community building. She is a practicing fine artist, editor and writer. In 2010, she founded Brave Girls Art, a creative workshop series for girls and women, which was folded into the small business she began with her wife in 2013—The Creativity Caravan, an organization whose mission was to design and facilitate creative programs across the United States. Most recently she co-founded the small press Toad Hall Editions and acts as its creative director.

“My wife and I first came to Belfast to attend the Belfast Poetry Festival in 2019 because a friend of ours had a feeling we might want to live here someday,” she said. “After eating a cherry tart at Chase’s Daily, we knew our friend was onto something.”

Tingle will support Executive Director Kim Fleming, and work alongside Kids and Families Program Manager Bridget Matros, Administrative Assistant Cate Bradbury, Marketing Manager Chris Battaglia, Facilities Manager Tim Conte, and other staff.

“Amy is a perfect addition to our small but mighty team,” said Fleming. “It’s amazing she has already been involved in such a positive way with the organization since moving to the area. I can’t wait to see what programming she brings to our community.”

Launched in 2000, Waterfall Arts is a community arts center that offers resources to arts enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. It welcomes the public to engage in the arts through classes, exhibitions, art events, performances, public art projects, open studios (in clay, glass, print, and darkroom photography) and more.
