BELFAST — On Thursday, Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m., the Belfast Free Library hosts Lucas Richman and Kate Dickerson for an introduction to “The Warming Sea,” a symphony about climate change composed by Richman. Register for this virtual presentation at belfastlibrary.org/abcd-events.

In January 2019, Kate Dickerson, founder and director of the Maine Science Festival, commissioned Bangor Symphony Music Director Lucas Richman to compose a symphonic piece about climate change in the Gulf of Maine. The Maine Science Festival team arranged a series of discussions between Richman and climate experts up and down the coast of Maine. These conversations, as well as perspectives provided by middle school students throughout Maine, provided the foundation for “The Warming Sea.”

Join organizers for this discussion about the creation of “The Warming Sea,” and learn more about its debut by the Bangor Symphony Orchestra in March 2022.

This presentation is part of the ongoing series of programs for the All of Belfast Climate Dialogues, a project of the Belfast Free Library. For more information, visit belfastlibrary.org.
