Since the beginning of time, the Picard family Thanksgiving and Christmas were huge family gatherings. For the second year in a row we have canceled because of family illness and the pandemic. While on my way to Waterville last week I saw Aunt Elena out burning a brush pile so I pulled in and offered her a trade. I will make her some of the family carrot and turnip dish and in return I will get some of her incredible oatmeal rolls. I think I’m getting the better deal.

The boat launch is out of the water for the winter! Thank you to Ryan and Colby Parsons of Ryan’s Towing who always generously donate their time and use of the ramp truck. Also thanks to Larry King, Dan Sampson and Tony Avila for helping.

My nephew Daniel has graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina and is headed for AIT (Advanced Individual Training). Patti, Amir, Asiya and Nadia were able to make the trip to see him. He finished “The Forge” (a 72-hour endurance event) with a fractured hip.
