MILLINOCKET — The No. 5 Mount View football team saw its unpredictable high school season come to a close on Friday, Oct. 22 as the Mustangs came up on the short end of a 52-16 decision against No. 4 Stearns/Schenck in the small school eight-man playoffs.

Sam Valleau finished 9-of-15 under center for the Mustangs for 154 yards and one touchdown.

The hosts also capitalized on three interceptions, in addition to several other scores.

Valleau also rushed for a touchdown and two-point conversion and Wyatt Evensen rushed for a two-point conversion for Mount View. Valleau rushed for 48 yards on 12 carries and Evensen 47 yards on seven carries.

Evensen (3 catches for 70 yards, TD), Brock Cassidy (2 catches for 82 yards) and Bo Spaulding (2-yard catch) also had receptions for Mount View (1-5).

Defensively, Anthony Mathous (7 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles), Valleau (4 solos, 3 assists), Evensen (4 solos, 2 assists), Cassidy (3 solos, 6 assists), Miles Carter (solo, 2 assists), Landon Fletcher (2 assists), Aidan Burke (2 assists), Spaulding (2 assists) and Garrett Dunton (assist) led the Mustangs.

Statistics for Stearns/Schenck, which also beat No. 1 Mattanawcook Academy/Lee Academy 32-o and then lost to No. 3 Dexter 22-0 in the following rounds of the playoffs, were unavailable.
