Do not forget to support your local Grange, Dirigo Grange in Freedom. They are hosting a “homemade goodies” sale on Saturday, Nov. 13, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Lots of delicious homemade goodies will be on display in the hall. Take home dessert tonight and surprise the family.

Sympathy is being extended to the family and friends of Joyce Joyce Bailey Thompson. She was one of my classmates. We also started school at the same time at the Knox Stream School House. She was a terrific person and will be deeply missed by many.

I recently received word of the passing of Ann Flewelling. She was a resident of Thorndike many years ago and her husband, Hollis, was one-time owner of our local garage. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Avis and Michael Merrifield, and grandchildren. I always loved going to their house. I was a good friend of her other daughter, Gail, who passed a few years ago. Rest in peace, Ann. You will be missed.

Dustin and I got the last of the wood split and thrown in. We had a good time and a lot of laughs while getting the work done.

Regional School Unit 3 Adult Ed is planning substitute teacher training. This will be  free for RSU 3 residents and $30 for nonresidents. This will be done in just two short sessions. Hunters Supper and raffle drawing Saturday, Nov. 13, at the American Legion Hall on Windemere Lane, Unity. They will be serving from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. These members work very hard, so please support this worthy cause.

Deepest condolences are being sent to the many relatives and friends of Hazel Fuller. She was a bright light and will be missed my many. Gone way too soon, but will never be forgotten.

Condolences are being sent to the family and friends of Julie Clark.  She was a bright and shining young lady that will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A reminder that the Recycling Center will be closed on Nov. 25 and 26 for Thanksgiving and will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 27 for their regular hours.

Happy belated birthday to Kelsey and Megan. I hope you girls had a great day!

Hello to Joan Sheldon. So glad to hear you are doing better!

Thanks to Merrily for helping with hay bales one more year. I really appreciate the help.

Well, I think Dustin and I are ready for old man winter. Wood is done and the house is banked and Justin Morton made his annual fall visit, to check on windows, roofs and I finally got the cellar stairs fixed. Now I can focus on the cemetery lots for their winter adornments.

Bill Clinton is quoted as saying, “Being president is like running a cemetery: You’ve got a lot of people under you and nobody’s listening.”

Have a great week and get your Christmas list ready and get shopping!
