JACKSON — Patricia A. Cole, 69, passed away Nov. 1, 2021, following a two-year battle with cancer. She was born in Bangor to her mother, Margaret M. Rigby. Pat grew up between Monroe and Jackson. She was married in 1968 to Charles O. Cole Jr. and had two daughters. After their divorce she stayed in Jackson and made her life there.

Pat is most known for her hard work ethic, going barefooted until snow would fly, and her green thumb. She enjoyed gardening even though the last couple of years she’d state “next year I’m not having a garden,” but would always start one each spring.

Pat was predeceased by her mother, Margaret M. Rigby; brother William James Rigby Sr.; grandson H. Nicholas Tibbetts; nephew William “Billy” Rigby; fiancé Ronald Lennon Jr.; and good friend Alden Brown.

She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Cole Steele and spouse Brett Steele, and Lynette Cole Crooker and spouse Peter Crooker; stepdaughters Mindy Lennon and Merenda Lennon; niece Betsy Rigby Brown and nephew Jason Rigby; grandchildren Ryan Crooker, Michael Steele, Dyllen Gibbs, Brandon Crooker, Shannon Crooker, Kelsey Tripp, Brittany Steele and Kristen Tripp; and many great-grandchildren and great-nieces and -nephews.

Pat was blessed to have so many wonderful neighbors with special thanks to Dwayne and Linda Nickerson and Laurel and Nancy Kragh. Right to the end, they were there to lend a hand to kill a porcupine at 11 p.m., take her to the store at the drop of a hat, walk her dog, make her food, mow her lawn, get her food pantry, and last but not least, pick up her mail. Missy and Lynne owe you all more than they could ever give. Thank you from the bottom of their hearts.

There will be a celebration of life Nov. 13 at the Jackson Community Center from 1 to 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers or donations, plant a tree or flower and make any donations to Jackson Food Pantry.
