BELFAST — Larry Alexander, 64, of Shushan, New York, pleaded not guilty Nov. 12 at the Waldo County Judicial Center to charges of gross sexual assault, terrorizing and assault regarding events alleged to have taken place between him and a woman from June 20 to June 23 in the town of Knox.

The plaintiff accused Alexander of holding her against her will for several days while repeatedly sexually assaulting her at a house in Knox where he was staying at the time.

Judge Robert Murray approved an amendment reducing Alexander’s bail from $50,000 to $25,000 and authorized removal of an electronic monitoring device from his ankle. He is currently staying out of state, Alexander said at the arraignment. He will use the returned bail money to hire a lawyer.

A dispositional hearing was scheduled for Jan. 25, 2022, at 1 p.m.
