This Veteran’s Day was spectacular! My older brother, Matthew (an eight-year USMC veteran), and his wife Lucia spent a good portion of their day in service to the community. They cut low-hanging branches and cleared brush at Pond Cemetery. My husband also had the day off so he fought his mortal enemy, the leaves.

I have named my opossum friend “Owen.” I think he’s living under my porch. I gave him some leftover beef stew one night; he ate the carrots last. Tonight he’ll be having stuffed shells.

Parkinson’s Support Group is now meeting the third Monday of the month from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Bring a brown bag lunch if desired. Meet at Unity Barn Raisers Community Building at 32 School St. Come for support and info on living with Parkinson’s.

Unity FarmDrop is operated by Unity Barn Raisers, a community nonprofit. This market has a wide variety of locally raised meats, greens, produce and items to fill your pantry and fridge! Multiple pickup locations available. Order by 3 p.m. on Thursdays for Friday pick up at the Community Center.

Heald Farm has all your Thanksgiving non-turkey supplies! Great supply of potatoes (red, Caribou russet, shepody, blue, and purple). Ten pounds are $7.00; 50 pounds are $20. Plenty of buttercup and butternut squash, as well as onions and sweet potatoes. Local cranberries from the bog in Troy available for $5 per bag or two bags for $8. Open 8 a.m. to dark. They are around 8-1 if you need help loading 50-pound bags.

Unity Public Library is anticipating opening in December. You can find library card applications at the Town Office. Craig Lowe is working on a new sign and the library recently installed some beautiful granite steps.

We have hired a part-time person to help manage the town website. Chelsea Hester will be keeping the events and calendar portion of updated as information becomes available.

The bid packet with specifications and drawings has arrived from Plymouth Engineering regarding the Berry Road bridge. We’ll be addressing that at the next Select Board meeting.
