CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — Reired Staff Sgt. Floyd Oakes, 87, passed away Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at his residence.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.

Floyd was born in Unity Dec. 20, 1933, to William and Erma Oakes, who both predeceased him. He retired from the Army after 20 years of service. Floyd had a passionate heart for animals and enjoyed volunteering at Cats R Us.

In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his wife, Gertraude T. Oakes, and seven siblings.

Survivors include his daughter, Silvia Oakes; grandchildren Sarah Crowley and Paige Crowley; great-grandchildren Maddox Tucker and Jaxon Hagan; sister Beverly Rollins of Pittsfield; several nieces and nephews, and many faithful and loving friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksville Humane Society, 940 Tennessee Ave., Clarksville, TN 37040.
