Hello All,

I started my column Friday but with my service on and off I never got anywhere at all. It was a cold windy day to stay inside. Even if not at home.

A very happy 50th anniversary to Ralphy and Dee Dee Doughty! May you two have many more. Ralph just celebrated his 75th birthday on Dec. 3.

In nearby Freedom

A happy 25th anniversary to Mark and Jodi Whitaker!!! May you be blessed with many more.

Cheese anyone?

The State of Maine Cheese Co. is located on Birches Road in Waldo at the Whitcomb Farm. They have a farm store there with cheeses and other goodies. Call to get info, 236-8895. They are also at the United Farmers Market in Belfast on Saturdays.

COVID cancels more

The Belfast by the Bay New Year’s Eve event has been canceled for those who had planned on this. I went many years ago with Deb and Ali.

There have been several people I know with COVID and I hope they are all getting better at this time. Many folks have had COVID testing. This is not going away anytime soon, sadly. Stay safe as possible.

Coming up

Remember Pearl Harbor Day is Dec. 7. I never forget.

Wreaths Across America

In Unity on Dec. 18, 11 a.m. ceremony at the cemetery on School Street. Everyone welcome. Remember, Honor, Teach.

Dates to remember

The UARRC for recycling will be closed Dec. 24 and 25, opening on Dec. 28, regular hours, and also closed Dec. 31 and Jan 1, reopening Jan. 4, 2022, at regular hours.

Our sympathy to the family and friends of Don Woodbury Sr. of Albion who passed recently from his dementia.

He used to come to the Polaris Snowmobile shop my dad, Roger Drew, had with his future in-laws, Bob and Doris Gardner, and daughter Elaine, whom he married. The rest of the Gardner family came to snowmobile as well. We went to races back then. Don had a store in Albion, Woodbury’s Market, and a restaurant after, before moving on to working at the Country Manor and retiring for ill health. He is missed.

Another long-timer gone

Sympathy to the Donald Thomas family on the loss of their loved one. I knew him through my Aunt Marion McDonald of Marsh Road, and the family that lived there as well.

Always find a reason to laugh. It may not add years to your life, but will surely add life to your years.

Stay warm and be safe. It is getting colder out there. We’ve only had one snowstorm to leave us 5-6 inches of snow in places, more in others. And much less in places, some none and not that far off from here. It’s crazy.

Another scare

Beware of the Apple AirTag people have been talking about on Facebook. Someone tracking your vehicle unbeknownst to you. Happened to someone I know. It seems there’s always something to cause fear.

Until next time,

Be careful out there. The sun is shining as I finish this up, but cold. Get well to those sick and happy birthday to you if you observe a birthday. Get well to those dealing with the COVID virus. Prayers to those needing some.
