BELFAST — The driver involved in a single-vehicle crash on Poors Mill Road Friday afternoon was not injured, according to Belfast Police.

Police said John Ward, 43, of Belfast, was traveling east around 3:50 p.m. in a Toyota Matrix when his car left the road to the right, struck a tree, rolled over and caught fire.

Ward was able to get out of the car without injury and police were able to extinguish the fire before Belfast Fire and Ambulance Service arrived. Airbags could be seen deployed at the crash site.

Waldo County Sheriff’s Office personnel also responded to the call.

Belfast is investigating the cause of the crash.
