Mount View Middle school has been feeling the effects of COVID-19 lately. Though spread within the school is almost nonexistent, it is common for a student to test positive, and for the school to require all unvaccinated people in contact with them to quarantine as a result.

Often when several cases occur among students, the resulting quarantines cause classes to be as low as half-capacity. The constant quarantines can make work difficult for students and teachers alike.

Another difficulty is a lack of available substitute teachers; when a teacher is absent, other teachers must sacrifice their prep periods to fill the vacant position. Regardless, for the time being, school remains in session, and faculty and students manage the difficulties of the pandemic. Classes and programs are still succeeding in performing their vital role, despite the difficulties they face. Though battered and beaten, Mount View is not yet lost.
