Before snow arrives, Lions pin down tri-meet home victory

BELFAST — Before the first significant snow of the winter fell on Friday, Jan. 7, Belfast wrestlers kept busy by hosting — and sweeping — a home meet with Lincoln Academy of Newcastle and Winslow.

On Thursday, Jan. 6, the Lions bested the Eagles and Winslow. The team scores were Belfast 48 and Lincoln Academy 15; and Belfast 48 and Winslow 24.

The individual Belfast results, with Lion mat athletes listed first, were:

106 pounds — Hagen Chase lost to Adam St. Cyr, LA, 7-5; and won by forfeit over Winslow.

113 pounds — Ryker Evans pinned Kiera Grand, LA; and won by forfeit over Winslow.

120 pounds — Anna Pontillo pinned Delia Saft, LA. Connor Fournier, Bel, won by forfeit over Winslow.

126 pounds — Connor Fournier pinned Zach Poland, LA. Anna Pontillo, Bel, won by forfeit over Winslow.

132 pounds — Kaden Bonin won by forfeit over Lincoln Academy and Winslow.

138 pounds — Davis Anderson pinned Waylon Strout, LA; and was pinned by Samuel Schmitt, Win.

145 pounds — Belfast forfeited to Jayden Lafrenaye, LA.

152 pounds — Isaiah Alvarez won by forfeit over Lincoln Academy and Winslow.

160 pounds — Francesco Martin pinned Spencer Gamage, LA; and won by forfeit over Winslow.
