BELFAST — Gerald “Buttons” Hews Sr., 67, passed away Dec. 31, 2021, at his residence. He was born in Brooks Jan. 5, 1954, to Floyd and Arlene (Cook) Hews.

Gerald worked in the poultry plants and for the railroad. He was a member of the Pocahontas, Sons of American Legion, Auxillary VFW and Redman Hall. He loved to go bowling, fishing and camping. He had many friends and enjoyed clowning around and dancing.

He was predeceased by both parents and a brother, Sonny. He is survived by his children, Gerald Hews Jr. and girlfriend Laurie Harvey of Belfast and Cherri Severson and husband MG of Union; his sisters, Joyce Mitchell and Roxanne Staples, both of Belfast; four grandchildren, Kelsey, Annferney, Landin and Jayden; many nieces and nephews, and favorite niece Lauri Jewett.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at the American Legion, 143 Church St., Belfast. Memories and condolences may be shared at
