NORTHPORT — Mary Elizabeth (Mary-Beth) Taylor, 71, died peacefully Jan. 5, 2022, in Belfast after a long battle with cancer.
Mary-Beth was born in Boston July 22, 1950. She was the daughter of Alden R. Taylor Jr. and Edwina (Kelley) Taylor, formerly of Northport.
She is survived by sons Edward (Ned) A. Lally of Northport and Benjamin and his wife, Rebecca (Masferrer) Lally, of Framingham, Mass.; and granddaughters Sophia and Violet Lally. She is also survived by her brother, Alden R. Taylor III, of Wilton, Conn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Jane Edwina Taylor.
A graduate of Mount Pleasant High School in Wilmington, Del., Mary-Beth received an associate degree in merchandising from Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington, D.C. Her merchandising credentials led to a series of positions at companies including Reny’s, MBNA and Jordan Marsh. She also enjoyed a 14-year career as a reading tutor and special education paraprofessional in New Hampshire and western Massachusetts. Mary-Beth had a sharp sense of humor and loved reading and caring for her beloved pets. She will be greatly missed.
At Mary-Beth’s request, there will be no funeral service. A memorial service is planned for later in the year. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center, 123 John St., Camden, ME 04843 or online at pawsadoption.org/donate
