BELFAST — A Belfast man was struck and killed while crossing the street near Belfast Variety on Route 52 Saturday.

According to Chief Gerry Lincoln of the Belfast Police Department, Robert Day, 80, was hit as he attempted to cross Lincolnville Avenue at approximately 6 p.m. Jan. 15.

Day was struck by a pickup truck traveling south driven by 37-year-old Jesse Johnson-Rodgers. Police say Day died at the scene from his injuries.

No charges were filed, but police say the crash is still under investigation.
