As tax season approaches, you should be aware that Carver Memorial Library and AARP are sponsoring free tax preparation for individuals at the Community Center on Prospect Street on Tuesdays and Fridays beginning Tuesday, Feb. 8. This year there will be one appointment, they’ll do your taxes right then and you can take your form home instead of coming back to pick it up. The library is taking appointments now at 548-2303. Please limit your visit to one person and no children, please.

Upcoming Digital Literacy Classes are: “Online Games for 55+,” Monday, Jan. 24, at 1 p.m.; “Using Software and Devices for Better Health” on Thursday, Jan. 27, at 1 p.m.; and “Applying for the Emergency Broadband Benefit” on Tuesday, Feb. 1.  All classes are free and presented at the Town Hall. And to keep you in the know, here are some special days to look forward to: Jan. 21 is National Hugging Day, and Jan. 24 is Beer Can Appreciation Day and Compliment Day. I don’t have space to include them all, but if you want a chuckle, fire up the computer and search “special observances.”
