BELFAST — Waldo County YMCA has launched another food drive for non-perishable items it will deliver to the county’s three principal school district food pantries and Waldo County Technical Center.  Items can be dropped off at the YMCA, 157 Lincolnville Ave., through Saturday, Jan. 22, and a Y crew will be at the Belfast Hannaford from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, at a table inside for a community collection.

Donated food will be delivered to the schools Monday and Tuesday, Jan. 24 and 25.

Monetary donations are welcome as well. Checks should be made payable to a school food pantry, either RSU 3, RSU 20 or RSU 71, and mailed to or dropped off at the YMCA, or dropped off at Hannaford Jan. 17.

The most-requested food items are cereal, snack bars, snack crackers, Beef-a-roni, pasta, mac and cheese, soups, canned meats, tuna, canned or packaged fruits, ramen noodles, pasta sauce, flavored rice, peanut butter and jelly, rice cakes and canned vegetables.
