SEARSPORT — The Searsport basketball teams hosted George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill on Wednesday, Jan. 19, a scenario that saw the schools emerge with a win.

The Vikings girls nipped the Eagles 33-32, while the boys came up on the short end of a 69-40 score against GSA 69-40 in high school court contests.

Girls

Searsport 33, George Stevens Academy 32

At Searsport Jan. 19, the Vikings edged the visiting Eagles. Searsport led 9-8, 16-10 and 23-15 at the quarter breaks.

Julianna Sprague led the Vikings with 21 points, while Ellie Cahill added six; Kyla Perkins, five; and Abby Astbury, one.

Emily Hutchinson scored nine points for the Eagles, while Alexon Astbury added six; Ashly Emerson, five; Amelia Jackson, four; Jasmine Emerton, three; Regan Libby and Alyssa Ladd, two; and Amanda Dorr, one.

Searsport improved to 3-7.

Boys

George Stevens Academy 69, Searsport 40

At Searsport Jan. 19, the Eagles outscored the Vikings in the four stanzas and netted a 29-point victory. GSA led 20-11, 32-24 and 50-33 at the quarter breaks.

Josh Wright paced the Vikings with 17 points, while Chase Brassbridge and Gage Ellis added six; Eli Law and Tim Smith, four; Sam Cahill, two; and Sean Paige, one.

David Gadsby pumped in 22 points for the Eagles, while Sol Lorio added 13; Teague Smaridge, 12; Patrick Dagan, seven; Bryce Scheider, six; Arden Weaver and Dexter Brown, three; Matthew Astbury, two; and Arden Weaver, one.

Searsport was 5-of-8 (62 percent) from the foul line, while GSA was 7-of-17 (41 percent).

The Vikings dipped to 3-7.
