A couple of inches of snow accumulation overnight has made travel during the morning hours hazardous. On many unpaved roads across Waldo County, a layer of frozen ice had developed prior to the snow accumulation.

Regional School Unit 3 and Regional School Unit 20 each have a 2-hour delay because of the weather and road conditions. Gerry French, director of transportation for Regional School Unit 71, said in a Facebook post RSU 71 will be in session on its regular schedule.

According to the National Weather Service office in Gray, a winter weather advisory remains in effect until 3 p.m. this afternoon with additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches expected, with highest amounts on the peninsulas and islands. Counties affected include Lincoln, Knox and coastal Waldo.
