Hello Monroe!

Ethan, the boys and I were happy to get away from the harsh cold for a few days recently when we traveled to North Conway with Meema Jane and met up with some special aunties and cousins. We splashed around in an indoor water park, all enjoying the warm water and watching the kids smile and laugh the hours away.

And it appears we returned home to Monroe just in time to welcome in the predicted weekend nor’easter to wrap up the month of January. If it’s going to be cold — and it is winter, after all — the world might as well be blanketed in white for a while!

Worth celebrating

Happy birthday wishes go out to the following current and former Monroe residents celebrating this February: Kate Wing (12th), John Gibbs (22nd), Kristy Clements (23rd) and Alyssa Dow (28th).

Congratulations to Mount View senior basketball star Hannah Coolen, granddaughter of Monroe’s Donald and Josie Nickerson. Hannah is just the second female in school history to score 1,000 career basketball points. I was honored to be in the gymnasium on Wednesday evening, Jan. 26, to watch her do so. Hannah is a strong, talented athlete whose contributions to the school’s soccer, basketball and softball programs has been inspiring and exciting to watch.

Morgan Murphy of Monroe recently announced her success in passing her EMT classes. Up next are completing and passing the practical and written tests to become licensed. Keep working hard toward your goal, Morgan!
