STOCKTON SPRINGS — Margo D. Shute, 66, passed peacefully with her family at her side Jan. 31, 2022. She was born April 25, 1955, the daughter of Marshall P. Shute and Gloria A. (Pinkham) Snowman.

She worked most of her life in the food service business and at Champion Paper Co., eventually owning her own restaurant, The Mariner, in Searsport. Most recently, she worked for Regional School Unit 20, also in food services.

She was predeceased by both parents and her stepfather, Bruce Snowman. Margo is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Brittany Shute; her granddaughters (whom she adored and loved beyond words), Kaitlyn Shute, Alivia Shute and Kylie Merithew; her brother and sister-in-law, Wesley and Judy Shute; her sister, Marsha Shute, and longtime friend Lorrie Harrison; and lifelong special friends Sandy Dakin and Rainey Jackson.

Mom had an absolute love for people, and was always the life of the party. She had the ability to light up a room with her smile and infectious laugh. As her family likes to describe it, “her fan club was that of a celebrity,” and it truly was. To know her was to love her. Mom had a deep love for her family, including her extended families at Balsam Cove Campground, RSU 20 and Alcoholics Anonymous, the latter of which, for the last 14 years, has kept her going strong and sober.

At her request, there will be no formal service. There will be a celebration of her life (big outdoor party), as she called it. The location, date and time have not yet been determined, but will be shared publicly on social media as warmer weather approaches. Arrangements are with Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Bucksport. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at  mitchelltweedie-young.com.
