Hello Monroe!

Many thanks to Aiden Tripp, Ben Hooper, and Ethan and Bruce Stubbs for recent work clearing and grooming portions of snowmobile trail in Monroe and Brooks maintained by the Harvest Valley Snowmobile Club. We finally had some snow to get out and enjoy!

Note from Sue

Mail Carrier Suzanne Hall would like to thank her patrons for the great job of cleaning out their mailboxes after the Big Storm. She knows how difficult wintertime can be, both physically and mentally, and appreciates all of the effort. We have a long way to go and she wants you to know that your continuous support brings timely mail delivery and a grateful smile.

Worth celebrating

Congratulations to Trinity Tripp, daughter of Nick and Sophia Tripp, for being named to the University of New England’s dean’s list for excellent academic scores during the fall semester.

I was sorry to learn of the passing of well-known and liked Monroe community member Lester Thompson. Lester was a fixture in the church, Fire Department, and other capacities around town. His passing will leave a sad, empty space in our organizations, social gatherings and with all who knew and enjoyed his company.

Lions news

The Monroe Lions Club met recently and honored Lion Dave Knupp for his 35 years of service with the Lions.

Save the date for another Lions breakfast to be held in town on March 19. More yummy details to come.

The Lions happily selected Gabby Hanks as the 2021 recipient of the Monroe Lions Club scholarship. Gabby, daughter of Nick and Nichole Hanks, all of Jackson, is studying childhood development at Kennebec Valley Community College.

Library launch

A reminder that the Monroe Library will be open Saturday, Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., presenting its new children’s books. Snacks will be available for young patrons to enjoy!

Have a great week!
