Snow and a wintry mix arrived overnight in Waldo County, closing some schools, businesses and government facilities, while other schools are having remote learning days. Driving is hazardous in many areas of the county.

Snow is expected to continue today before tapering to snow showers this evening. Other than possible lingering snow showers Saturday morning, most of the weekend is expected to be dry.

COVID testing centers at Waldo County General Hospital closed at noon today. WCGH Walk-in Care will close at 2 p.m. All WCGH outpatient practices closed at noon.

The WCGH emergency department and inpatient units will remain open and able to serve patients for the duration of the storm.

Trash pickup in Stockton Springs will be Saturday, Feb. 5, instead of today. The Winterport transfer station is also closed but is scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday.

Waldo County YMCA announced on its website that it would close at noon today.

Northport Town Office is closed today but will be open tomorrow at 8 a.m.

Belfast Co-op announced on Facebook that it would open at 10 a.m. Belfast Jewelers posted that it would be closed today.

Regional School Units 3 and 20, as well as Edna Drinkwater School in Northport, have canceled school today because of weather conditions. Regional School Unit 71 is having a remote learning day, according to Gerry French, director of transportation.

Lincolnville Central School is also closed, as is Palermo Consolidated School. Schools in RSU 22 are closed today, including Leroy H. Smith and Samuel L. Wagner schools in Winterport.

There is no school today for MSAD 53, which includes the town of Burnham. Bucksport schools are closed today.

Waldo County Superior Court and Belfast District Court are closed today.

The Islesboro Town Office and Health Center are closed today.
