BRUNSWICK — Top performances, including a bundle of first and second places, were turned in by Lion, Mariner and Panther high school student-athletes on Friday, Feb. 11 in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B indoor track championships at Bowdoin College.

A trio Belfast athletes earned firsts, including Lia Frazee in the pole vault and high jump, Nicholas Ritchie in pole vault and Andrew Abelon in triple jump. Frazee was in line for a third individual title in the 55-meter hurdles after she finished first in the prelims, but it was not be.

The girls team scores were: Cony of Augusta 114, Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield 93, Winslow, Waterville 39, Belfast 34.5, Leavitt of Turner 31.5, Oceanside of Rockland 29, Erskine Academy of South China 29, Morse of Bath 27, Nokomis of Newport 23 and Lawrence of Fairfield 7.

The boys team scores were: Winslow 102, Leavitt 98, Cony 57, Belfast 51, Waterville 40, Nokomis 35, Maine Central Institute 26, Lawrence 23, Morse 13, Medomak Valley of Waldoboro 11, Oceanside 8 and Erskine Academy 5.

Next for those who qualify is the state Class B championships on Monday, Feb. 21 at 5 p.m. at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham.

The KVAC individual and relay results for Midcoast girls included:

55 meters — Finals: 5, Reese Novicka, Ocean, 8.08; and 8, Allison Hooper, Bel, 8.33. Prelims: 5, Reese Novicka, Ocean, 8.08; 6, Allison Hooper, Bel, 8.22; 10, Kassie Brown, Bel, 8.58; and 13, Erin Robbins Bel, 8.69.

200 meters — 4, Reese Novicka, Ocean, 29.01; 7, Natalie Curry, Bel, 29.95; and 13, Hallye King, Ocean, 32.19.

400 meters — 2, Cassidy Novicka, Ocean, 1:05.51; and 9, Erin Robbins, Bel, 1:18.47. Novicka finished about a second from first.

800 meters — 6, Juniper Fowler, Bel, 2:46.22; and 9, Ruth Havener, Med, 3:06.68.

Mile — 2, Juniper Fowler, Bel, 6:12.25.

Two miles — 2, Maria Protheroe, Ocean, 13:03.27.

55-meter hurdles — Prelims: 1, Lia Frazee, Bel, 9.44; and 10 Kassie Brown, Bel, 11.39. Frazee had a false start in the final, as the winning time was 9.44, the same used by Frazee to qualify.

4×200-meter relay — 5, Oceanside (Hallye King, Cassidy Novicka, Reese Novicka, Maria Protheroe), 2:04.31; and 6, Belfast (Natalie Curry, Juniper Fowler, Allison Hooper, Erin Robbins), 2:06.77.

High jump — 1 Lia Frazee, Bel, 5-4; 6, Kassie Brown, Bel, 4-6; and 9, Natalie Curry, Bel, 4-2.

Pole vault — 1, Lia Frazee, Bel, 10-0.

Triple jump — 5, Cassidy Novicka, Ocean, 30-10.

800 meters — 5, Noah Morris, Med, 2:17.09.

Mile — 2 Noah Morris, Med, 5:00.88; and 6, Westley Dyer, Bel, 5:09.36. Morris missed first by three seconds.

Two miles — 7, Westley Dyer, Bel, 11:51.58.

55-meter hurdles — 2, Rico Washington, Bel, 8.76. Washington finished a smidgen off the first-place time of 8.74.

High jump — 4, Nicholas Ritchie, Bel, 5-4.

Pole vault — 1, Nicholas Ritchie, Bel, 11-3.

Long jump — 2, Andrew Abelon, Bel, 20-5.5. Abelon missed the title by two inches.

Triple jump — 1, Andrew Abelon, Bel, 40-4.25; and 5, Nicholas Ritchie, Bel, 36-0.75.

Shot put — 13, Devin Guptil, Ocean, 28-10.5.
