WALDO — The Waldo Community Boosters announce the return of the Rena Whitney Scholarship benefit supper on Saturday, March 19, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Community Building.

Goodwill donations at the Italian-themed potluck supper will help fund the Rena Whitney Scholarship, which was first awarded in 1994. At that time, the Boosters were called Here’s Waldo Day. As of today, the group estimates it has awarded a total of $15,000 to $20,000 in scholarships to Waldo County .

Rena Whitney was a strong supporter of community activities and highly valued education. She worked at the Van Poland School, which sat on the site where the Community Building now stands. She and her husband, Linwood, donated the land where the athletic field and salt and sand shed are located.

Recalling the many supper supporters who have turned out in the past, the Boosters said in their announcement that the last supper, held in 2019, brought out a larger than usual crowd.

All are welcome to come for food, fellowship and friendly conversation. For more information, call Greg Coleman at 342-5646.
