AUGUSTA — The Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference unveiled a handful of its Class A and Class B all-conference and all-academic winter sports selections, a development that saw Midcoast student-athletes and coaches honored for efforts on the court and mat, as well as in the pool and classroom.

Athletes and coaches from Oceanside High School of Rockland, Medomak Valley High School of Waldoboro, Belfast Area High School, Mount View High School of Thorndike and Camden Hills Regional High School of Rockport were recognized for their work in basketball, swimming and wrestling.

All-conference and all-academic selections for indoor track, skiing and ice hockey will be released at a later date.

Medomak Valley’s Trevor Brown was selected Class B boys player of the year, as was Oceanside’s Bailey Breen for Class B girls.

Oceanside’s Maddie Ripley was the most outstanding wrestler for Class B.

Additionally, Oceanside girls basketball’s Matt Breen and Belfast wrestling’s Rick Kelley were Class B coaches of the year.

The Breens are father and daughter.

The KVAC all-conference and all-academic selections for area student-athletes, with information supplied by the league, includes:

Boys basketball

Class A all-academic — Camden Hills’ Ryan Clifford, Eben Fagonde, Hunter Norton, Aidan O’Connell and Liam O’Neal.

Class B first team — Medomak Valley’s Trevor Brown and Patrick McKenney; Oceanside’s Carter Galley; and Mount View’s Draedyn Furrow.

Class B second team — Mount View’s Declan Knowlton.

Class B player of the year — Medomak Valley’s Trevor Brown.

Class B first team — Oceanside’s Bailey Breen and Audrey Mackie; Mount View’s Hannah Coolen; and Medomak Valley’s Alyssa Creamer.

Class B second team — Oceanside’s Abby Waterman.
