The First Church in Belfast, UCC invites all to participate in Holy Week services. We continue our Lenten theme of God as the potter who reforms us out of our brokenness.

Our Palm Sunday service will be held April 10 at 10 a.m. in the church sanctuary,104 Church St. Palms will be handed out and the Children’s Choir will sing.

On April 14 we will hold our Maundy Thursday Tenebrae service in the upstairs Fellowship Hall, 55 Spring St., recalling Jesus’ Last Supper with his disciples and recounting the steps to his crucifixion.

April 15 is Good Friday. The front yard of the church will have a series of stations which can be engaged in any time of the day on Friday or Saturday. It is called “Earth’s Way of Sorrows” and invites participants to quietly and prayerfully walk to each station, contemplating God’s call to us to change from our devastating ways that are destroying our planet as well as each other.

Easter Sunday is April 17. The day will begin with an Easter Sunrise service at the Belfast Boathouse at 5:30 a.m. led by members of the Greater Bay Area Ministerium. Everyone is welcome.

The Easter service at First Church will begin at 10 a.m. The Choir will sing “Earth, Earth, Awake!” by Herman Stuempfle Jr. and Sally Ann Morris, accompanied by trumpet and organ. The pastors will share their Easter message and there will be fun for the kids after the service.

Masking along with distancing is still being required in the buildings but this may be relaxed dependent upon Covid rates.
