Three Belfast Senior College courses, all available on Zoom, begin this week to round out BSC’s 10-course spring semester. According to Senior College spokesperson Beth Sterner, “There are still spaces available for two free “brown bag” courses, each of one session, and a three-session low-cost course on creating glass mosaics. We invite people ages 50 and older to join the hundreds of other Senior College course participants who have made the spring semester such a success.”

“Setting Up Your Advance Health Care Plan” is offered at noon on Thursday, April 14, and is led by Flic Shooter, Director of Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County. The interactive performance helps each participant deal with the sometimes difficult process of thinking and talking about end-of-life scenarios and helps with creating he Advance Health Care directive.

‘Ranked Choice Voting in Maine: Overview, Updates and What’s Next” is a second free, one-session course offered at noon on Monday, April 18, led by Lane Sturtevant from the League of Women Voters of Maine. The course provides an overview of both the history of ranked choice voting in Maine and how it works as a voting method. This course is interactive, with a question- and-answer session part of the presentation.

Local glass artist Monica Morris presents “Making Glass Mosaics,” a three-session course beginning Tuesday, April 19 at 2 p.m. Students will work through one project together, providing skills in glass cutting, glass adhesives and mosaic finishing so each student can make her or his own creations. Course tuition is $27 and course materials, which can be used for future projects, cost approximately $100. Instructor Morris is a Montessori educator with more than 20 years of experience working with children and adults. With degrees from New Jersey Institute of Technology and Rutgers University, the Buenos Aires native’s many interests include painting and making glass mosaics.
