ROCKPORT — In their continued preparation for the regular season, Knox and Waldo county high school diamond squads met on Monday, April 11 in preseason baseball and softball action.

The Camden Hills Windjammers hosted the Belfast Lions in games on a glorious early-spring afternoon.

When the dust settled on the seven-inning affairs, the Windjammers had swept the Lions — 8-4 in baseball and 18-3 in softball.

Camden Hills plays in Class A North and Belfast Class B North.

Previously, the teams had worked in their school gymnasiums and outdoors on their fields before meeting on Monday in a preseason affair. Belfast had started the outdoor campaign with games in difficult weather on Saturday, April 9 at Mount Desert Island.

In Monday’s softball game, for the Windjammers, Lily Enggass (4 singles, RBI, 3 runs), Lillia Stone (2 singles, triple, 3 RBIs, 4 runs), Olivia Ogier (2 singles, triple, 3 RBIs, 2 runs) and Olivia Brown (single, triple, 2 RBIs) led the offense.

Working from the pitching circle for the hosts were Sierra Laukka (hit, no walks, 4 strikeouts in 2 innings), Stone (2 hits, 3 walks, 3 strikeouts in 3 innings) and Brown (hit, walk, 4 strikeouts in 2 innings).

For Belfast, Mia Winslow had two hits and Hayle Withee a home run. Lexi Hopkins (11 hits, 6 walks, 5 strikeouts in 4 innings) and Danica Gray (11 hits, 3 walks, 2 strikeouts in 2 innings) worked the circle.
