Hello Monroe!

Ethan and I spent a cold, wet April morning finding beauty in a canoe paddle down Marsh Stream. We put in at the bridge on Brown Road and took out at Basin Pond. The limbs were draped with sparkling water droplets; we saw numerous ducks, a couple of deer, a blue heron soaring up into the air — and we managed not to flip the canoe! A success overall and an adventure we’re glad we went on despite the dreary weather. Here’s to making this venture a springtime tradition, and hopes that next year’s float is under blue skies and not rain drops.

Gift of flowers

Dandy Ram Farm of Monroe offers a 12-week summer flower share on a sliding scale, ensuring local blooms are accessible to our community.

A “solidarity share” is now an option through Dandy Ram Farm for those who find joy in gifting flowers to others. These flowers will find their way into homes of essential community members who make our rural town a better place, like our post office workers, teachers and town clerks, as well as supplement the sliding scale share offering.

For more information on how to bring joy to many within our community, visit dandyramfarm.com.

New at the library

Two just-arrived titles at the Monroe Community Library are “Sea of Tranquility” by Emily St. John Mandel and “True Biz” by Sara Novic. Find those, any much more material, waiting at the newly rearranged library within the Town Hall. Hours remain Monday, Friday and the second Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Have a great week!
