BUCKSPORT — Searsport track-and-field athletes got back in the spring swing of things on Friday, April 15 with topnotch individual performances, including a first-place finish, in a Penobscot Valley Conference high school meet hosted by the Golden Bucks.

Ellis Braga buoyed the Vikings with a first-place effort in the pole vault.

The girls team scores were: Bucksport 212, Houlton 145, George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill 92, Washington Academy of East Machias 67, Penquis Valley of Milo 4 and Searsport 1.

The boys team scores were: Bucksport 225, George Stevens Academy 115, Washington Academy 105, Houlton 34, Searsport 13 and Penquis Valley no score.

The Searsport girls individual results were:

100 meters — 11, Emma Gaecklein, 15.84.

200 meters — 6, Emma Gaecklein, 32.32.

Discus — 14, Brianna Fairbrother, 53-1; and 21, Jayde Stone, 36-0.

The Searsport boys individual results were:

Pole vault — 1, Ellis Braga, 11-0; and 4, Thomas Bradley, 8-0.

Shot put — 16, Colby Treat, 23-3.5.

Discus — 8, Laithe Allen, 73-3; and 16, Colby Treat, 58-11.

Javelin — 8, Laithe Allen, 72-7.
