WINTER HARBOR — Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park has announced that it will host a variety of summer professional development opportunities for teachers, including the only Advanced Placement Summer Institute held in a national park.

Schoodic Institute, endorsed by the College Board, invites advanced placement teachers to retreat to Schoodic Point on the rockbound coast of Maine for instruction and certification this summer. Three separate weeks of courses will offer AP educators in-depth professional learning opportunities designed to strengthen AP course teaching methods.

The schedule begins with AP Spanish Language and AP Chemistry, June 26 to July 1, followed by two AP English Literature Composition classes and AP Biology July 31 to Aug. 5, and AP Environmental Science and AP World History Aug. 7-12.

The Schoodic Institute will provide meeting, education, lodging and dining facilities for participants. Before classes start, they will be able to view the sunrise, then attend courses during the day and relax with free time in the evening under the Schoodic peninsula’s night sky.

Lodging and all meals, including a lobster feast, are included in the residential price. Advanced placement teachers are invited to sign up early, as programs fill up quickly.
