ORONO — A small contigent of Searsport track-and-field athletes competed in two Penobscot Valley Conference championship meets, including the small school varsity event on Friday, May 27 in Orono and junior varsity meet on Wednesday, May 25 in Brewer.

In the varsity event, the girls team scores were: Orono 134, Bucksport 133, Houlton 86.5, Central of East Corinth 66.5, George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill 61, Sumner of Sullivan 24, Foxcroft Academy of Dover-Foxcroft 23, Deer Isle-Stonington 17, Washington Academy of East Machias 16, Piscataquis of Guilford 9, Dexter 8, Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln 6 and Seasport no score.

The boys team scores were: Orono 142, Bucksport 110, Foxcroft Academy 77, Sumner 67, George Stevens Academy 65, Washington Academy 63, Central 20, Bangor Christian 13, Searsport 11, Dexter 8, Lee Academy 4, Narraguagus and Blue Hill Harbor 1.

The individual Viking girl result was:

200 meters — 14, Emma Gaecklein, 31.09.

The individual Viking boys results were:

Pole vault — 1, Ellis Braga, 12-0; and 6, Thomas Bradley, 9-6.

In the jayvee meet, Laithe Allen keyed the Vikings with a second in the javelin as SDHS athletes competed in the field events.

The individual Viking girls results were:

Javelin — 19, Brianna Fairbrother, 46-8; 20, Jayde Stone, 44-8; and 24, Teakin Nickerson, 40-0.

The individual Viking boys results were:

Shot put — 14, Laithe Allen, 29-10; and 30, Colby Treat, 24-0.

Discus — 23, Colby Treat, 67-0.

Javelin — 2, Laithe Allen, 108-2; and 33, Ian Cottrell, 55-8.
