I apologize for not having a column last week, but Dustin’s wheelchair totally broke and his backup chair had a dead battery. So I was going after batteries and getting them put in so Dustin wouldn’t have to sit in the recliner all day.

It seems it always breaks on holiday weekends. A few hundred dollars later and Dustin is back on the move. Wheelchair batteries must be made of gold.

The Thorndike Recreation Department is looking for some new members and some new fundraising ideas. If you are interested in joining this group, please contact wendytrafton5@gmail.com or lcioe@yahoo.com for more information.

Do not forget to vote on the school budget on June 14 and on the building of a new transportation garage.  Your vote matters.

If you are contemplating getting a heat pump or looking for a technician to service one you already have, give HomeTown Heat Pumps a call. They are extremely professional and friendly. I had them come in for a cleaning on an existing heat pump and I learned many things that I did not know. They leave paperwork that explains a lot of settings, etc. They even have a Home Town Maintenance plan. Contact them at 948-7629 or text 416-7629. You will be glad you did. They are a small local business doing a great job.

The new Thorndike Town Office hours are as follows: Monday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.; Tuesday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Wednesday, noon-6 p.m.; Thursday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; and the second Saturday of each month, 8 a.m.-noon. Closed Friday.

Here is a bit of wisdom from my friend Pearl: Blessed are they who are pleasant to live with!

Have a great week and if your garden isn’t in, get going and get it finished.
