BELFAST — The Belfast Free Library, 106 High St., hosts an in-person talk and reading Tuesday, June 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the Abbott Room by author Eddie Adelman. His new collection of columns and essays is entitled “Don’t Get Me Started.” Although most of the essays are of a humorous nature, some display a more serious tone. “Don’t Get Me Started” spans 24 years and includes 35 of Adelman’s best columns and essays.

In 2002 and 2003, Adelman had a weekly column in the Portland Press Herald. Since 2013, dozens of his essays have appeared on the opinion pages of the Bangor Daily News. From 1998 through 2003, Adelman was a guest commentator on Maine Public Radio’s “Maine Things Considered” evening newscast, reading his essays aloud over the air. One of those essays won the “AP Award for Writing in Broadcast Journalism” in 1999.

The book also contains four one-act plays written by Adelman and dating back to 2007. Adelman’s plays have been performed in Los Angeles, Portland and Belfast. Two of the plays were featured at The Maine Playwright’s Festival in 2019 and 2020.
