It’s been pretty quiet as of late. I’m knocking on wood because now that I’ve said that all heck will probably break loose.

If you are on the “town pump” you might want to come to the June 21 Select Board meeting; we will be discussing it again as there have been several issues lately.

Unity “Public Works Deptartment,” aka the selectmen, were out and about during our Monday morning workshop clearing overhanging branches and brush from the Berry Road bridge. The bridge is open (we need to get the “Bridge Closed” signs removed). Please remember this bridge has a 3-ton weight limit! That means passenger cars and light trucks only. Tim and I are hoping we don’t get poison ivy rash!

Maine Gravesite Maintenance is in town working on some tipping/fallen stones in Pond and Farwell cemeteries. Due to unforeseen circumstances they won’t be doing as much this year as in years past. This, however, will free up some funds for some necessary tree work.

Gentle reminder: when ready to inter your loved one, please check with the Town Office and our sexton, Crystal Nichols, for record-keeping purposes. Crystal will “mark the spot.” Also, there is a cemetery ordinance in Unity. You can check it out at unityme.org under policies and ordinances.

Our code enforcement officer, Anne Goodblood, has Monday Town Office hours from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. When doing any building, please call her at the Town Office to see what you need for a permit.

All articles passed at the June 4 special town meeting, including updates to the Budget Committee Ordinance and the Shoreland Zoning Ordinance, and a new Solar Farm Ordinance. We are also able to use some of our ARPA money for SCBAs and AEDs for the Fire Department.

Support your local farmers. Over 400 local items are available for your table. Pickups are located in Unity, Pittsfield, Vassalboro, Newport, Waterville, Northport and Winterport. See: unity.farmdrop.us.

If you are “technology challenged” (like me), you can bring your phone, i-Pad, tablet or computer to the Unity Public Library every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for help. They are also working on an outdoor seating area and recently purchased a 10-spot bicycle rack along with an outside book drop.

Unity Area Rotarians worked from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Field of Dreams, trimming brush from the split-rail fence by the walking trail, fixing sections of the fence and working on the front entrance flower garden. Thank you, Rotarians!

Community Yard Sale! Saturday, July 9, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. (coincides with The Market of Unity), Unity Town Office. No cost! BYO table and chair. 10×10 space. Carry in. Carry out. Please call the Unity Town Office to reserve your space. 948-3763.

I was supposed to be in Boston today, but since my insurance changed and I needed a new referral, I had to postpone my appointment until next month.
