Hello Monroe!

Make hay while the sun shines — and that’s what we’ve been up to lately. The middle of June handed us our first stretch of good weather to get around 1,300 square bales off the fields in front of our house. Thankful for functioning equipment, relatives willing to lend a hand driving tractor and trucks and local muscle to help stack and unload trailers.

While my husband Ethan was making real hay in our fields, our son Oliver was stretched out on the floor making his own version of hay in our toy room; his tractor, with its driver George, scooped up imaginary hay bales and moved them around the “field.” Oliver will be 3 in July, and it has been such fun to watch his imagination and creativity really expand these past few months.
