Hello Monroe!

It has been a whirlwind week hosting my four nieces and nephews at third annual Summer Camp Rosemoore. I’ll share more about all our adventures this year and some fun photographs in next week’s column!

Worth celebrating

Happy 25th wedding anniversary to Monroe’s Whitney and Brad Aitken! They celebrated this milestone together on June 21.

Happy wedding anniversary also to Roland and Marnee Clements. They celebrated together on June 22.

Fire Department update

The Monroe Fire Department recently hosted a Low Angle Rescue class. Instructors from the Washington Fire Department taught participants from Brooks Ambulance and Monroe, Brooks, Belfast

and Washington fire departments how to set ropes, rigging and knots to safely extract a patient from steep terrain. This 8-hour class emphasized safety of the patient and responders. Several of the students are licensed Emergency Medical Service personnel who can provide immediate medical care to an injured patient prior to extrication. A big thank you to all the participants and instructors!
