BELFAST — The internationally-acclaimed Cassatt String Quartet performs a program of recently-composed works at the Colonial Theatre, 163 High St., Wednesday, July 13, at 7 p.m.

The quartet is renowned for its consummate skill in its performance of both contemporary and classical chamber music. Hosted through a collaboration between the theater and Waterfall Arts, Belfast’s concert is one of 15 statewide performances of the Seal Bay Festival of American Chamber Music. Seal Bay’s theme this year is “Seeing Sound,” with concerts taking place in art galleries and museums across Maine.

There will be a free artists’ colloquium from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., where Seal Bay and Waterfall Arts invite visual artists and the public to listen to selections of the evening’s concert and talk together with composers and artists about “Seeing Sound.” Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the concert itself. A short reception will follow the performance where audience members can talk to performers and composers.

The colloquium is free to all. Concert tickets are $15 and are available either July 13 at the box office or for presale on Eventbrite (tinyurl.com/CassattQuartet). For more information, visit colonialtheatre.com or call 207-338-1930.
