Hello Monroe!

Third annual Summer Camp Rosemoore, hosted at our farm here in Monroe, was a complete and chaotic success! My four nieces and nephews from Skowhegan and Deerfield (N.H.) came to spend the week with cousins Oliver and Nolan.

Our week included suppers together around the dining room table, visits from family, bike rides on the dirt road, playing in the backyard, getting eggs out of the coop, gravel pit adventures, tractor climbing, piano performances, tie-dye, Swan Lake State Park, pizza picnic at Gesner Park, arts and crafts, sleeping in to win “the sleeping race,” monkey bread, target shooting, Monroe Library bingo, cupcakes to celebrate birthdays, a visit to the horses and frogs at Meema Jane’s in Brooks, tubing on Randall Pond…so many wonderful memories!

Worth celebrating

Celebrating birthdays this July include the following residents of, and some formerly of, Monroe: Sawyer Inman (2nd), Dean Brown (4th), Shawn Colcord (6th), Kyle Story (9th), Angela Baglione (11th), Tabitha Lepore (14th), Oliver Stubbs (22nd), Bruce Stubbs (25th), Lynda Oliver (30th), and Kennedy Oliver (31st).

Gesner Park updates

The Friends of Gesner Park group will be meeting again on Wednesday, July 13, at 6 p.m. at Gesner Park in Monroe. In the event of inclement weather, the group will meet at the Monroe Town Hall, same day, same time.

To date, the group has raised over $10,000 to go toward updated play structures for the youth of Monroe and surrounding communities to use and enjoy. At the meeting July 13, finalized playground designs will be discussed and voted on to present to the greater community, as well as assigning tasks to finalize what is needed to submit a grant application for additional funding.

Contact Ashlie Stubbs (ashliestubbs13@gmail.com or 592-0336) for more information. All are welcome to attend the monthly meetings!

Have a great week!
