SEARSPORT — Ando Anderson is July 13’s music maestro at the Wednesday at the Shores held weekly at Searsport Shores Campground, 216 W. Main St., from 5 to 7 p.m. Anderson is offering a free beginners uke class/session starting at 4:15 p.m. All are welcome to attend the class whether you are aspiring uke player or just a bit curious about giving the instrument a try. A few extra instruments will be on hand if you don’t have your own.

Anderson is a music teacher and says that he’s thrilled to see the ukulele’s growing popularity. Lots of beginning players, young and old, are experiencing the joys and challenges of playing this happy, fun instrument. His recently published book, “Playing Uke with Ando,” will be available to encourage anyone and everyone to try out the ukulele.

Wednesday at the Shores runs through mid-September with musicians, cooks, makers and admirers gathering for an evening under the stars or in the garden kitchen for an old-fashioned picking party and sing-a-long.

Bring your instrument and take part in a guided jam session. All genres of music will be played, although participants lean toward old-time, bluegrass and Americana favorites. Players of all skill levels and ages are encouraged to attend. Music sheets are provided when helpful.

Participate in a craft project while you are here. Are you a maker or grower? Bring your artisanal products and sell them from a table nestled into the garden — your vending space is free but samples and demonstrations are strongly encouraged

This is a community celebration, so please pack a picnic and invite friends and family along.
