PITTSFIELD — Charlene (Bryant) Peppard, 86, passed away suddenly on June 28, 2022, at Sebasticook Valley Hospital, after a short illness.

She was born on Oct. 13, 1935, and was raised in Freedom. She graduated from Freedom Academy. Shortly after graduation she married her high school sweetheart, Richard. For some time, they lived in Troy and raised four children.

They moved to Pittsfield in the early 1970s, where she worked in the office at Vickery Elementary School. Many students and teachers will remember her being outside during recess. Following her time at Vickery, she worked for many years at SAS in the packing department. After retirement, she returned to the MSAD 53 school system as a lunch lady, where she served lunch at Vickery and Warsaw to many students, including her grandchildren.

Charlene loved all crafts, especially quilting and baking with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; she truly loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Randy Peppard and Debbie Sayles of Massachusetts, Rhonda and Jeremy Frye of Newport, and Roger Peppard and Shelley Braley of Detroit; grandchildren Matt and Shandrea, Melissa, Shannon, Dustyn and Axle, Tyler and Victoria, and Ethan and Nicole; great-grandchildren Alexis and Brayden, Hayden, Hali, Riley, Lucian, Sophie, Maia, Lana and Kayden; her brother Herbert Bryant of Belfast and his children, June and Herbert Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard Earl, son Richard Kevin, brother James Bryant, and grandson Seth Curry.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at the Detroit Village Cemetery.
