Hello Monroe!

I’ve had extra help weeding in the garden lately. Oliver, almost 3, actually does really well yanking the weeds out and shaking the dirt loose, and makes sure to remind me often, “Let my green beans grow!”

We had a gorgeous row of sunflowers. There must have been a hundred or more of them growing beautifully. I might have 10 left now — the deer have bitten the tops off almost the entire row. The deer are also doing a number on our fruit trees. Ethan and I are discussing future permanent fencing to try and keep the rascals at bay!

New to town

Two Monroe families are celebrating the arrivals of baby girls in recent weeks.

Congratulations to the Gibbs family. Parents Andrew and Kassey and siblings Leland and Emma welcomed new baby Lakelynn Jennifer, weighing 8 pounds, 8 ounces, and measuring 21 inches long, on July 2.

Also new to town is Makenna Edith Higgins, welcomed by parents Caleb and Brittani and her two older sisters. Makenna arrived on July 5, weighing 8 pounds, 1 ounce, and measuring 19 1/4 inches long.

Frozen Friday

Celebrate summer at Seek-No-Further Farmstead’s first-ever Frozen Friday! Think ice cream social meets open farm day. Visit the farm and enjoy their homemade soft-serve ice cream, made with their own goat’s milk, eggs, and seasonal flavors.

Frozen Friday is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. Exact flavors to be announced. People of all ages welcome, but please leave all pets at home.

An RSVP is requested to help ensure enough ice cream for everyone. As this is their first event of this kind, they want to be prepared for the swarms of ice cream-hungry families, and don’t want to run out! Visit their Facebook page for more information and to RSVP.

Have a great week!
