BELFAST — As a part of its continued offering of regional independent film, the Colonial Theatre, 163 High St., screens the documentary “Last of the Right Whales” Wednesday, July 27, at 7:10 p.m. All seats are $5.

Through funding from the Sierra Club Foundation comes a new film about how climate change has accelerated a collision course between one of the world’s most endangered species (North Atlantic right whales) and the Gulf of St. Lawrence fisherman whose fishing lines have been tied to the right whale’s projected extinction. There will be a post-screening discussion about this delicate North Atlantic ecological balance.
