A post on the Belfast Police Department’s Facebook page says this week it recognized Officers Jonathan Guba and Mike Blakely. Last month Guba and Blakely responded to a medical aid call on Whittier Road in Belfast. The 911 caller reported a 15-year-old female at the residence was unconscious and barely breathing. Upon arrival, the officers checked for a pulse and determined CPR would be needed. They immediately began CPR and got her breathing again. According to the post, “their quick actions, training and experience ultimately saved the life of a 15-year girl.” The post adds, “Guba and Blakely remained calm, professional and demonstrated the finest the Belfast Police Department has to offer.” Both officers received the Department Life Saving Award.
